Apologies for not updating in...a month? I've been very busy.
For instance, remember the Nice Lady who ordered the 16 portraits? She want me to customize a pair of Converse for her son. With zombies.
( WELL I WAS ALL OVER THAT )

I need to pay off my college tuition, so I'm opening up commissions.
Pricing Pricing depends on the project, but generally: -Paper and digital is cheapest. Wood, board, canvas, etc. will cost more. -Color will be more expensive. -Gouache/ink drawings will cost less than acrylic and oil paintings, because it is the fastest technique to do. -Portraits/character pinups are less expensive than environmental/landscapes.
The only commissions with a defined price is jewelry. Depending on what you want, it will cost $15-$20.

I finished my AFP card on time. That's a small snippet of the final piece. You'll all have to wait for the full version. Now that I have some time, I made some new jewelry pieces: ( More pictures )
One last thing! October is my favorite month, so I'm having a little sale:
 Etsy|Artfire
Enter the code into the "Note to Seller" box- I'll send the money back via Paypal. The new designs should be up by Monday.
The gallery gig is going okay- I haven't made my money back yet, so I decided to move out at the end of October. Sales are picking up though- I made nine in September, and already made one this month- so we'll see what happens. I'm hoping the larger paintings sell- or the Vampira piece. Actually, if Sisters sold I would dance an epic happy dance. No lying.
This term is going extremely well- all of my teachers are superb, and most of my classes are painting classes. I only started to paint seriously in summer 08, so it's my weakest skill at the moment. I know, I know, I paint all the time now, but we're talking 10+ years of drawing vs. barely 2 years of painting. I have to shape up. Hell, I started drawing on top of my gouache paintings to make them look competent.
My favorite class is Digital Landscaping- we get to paint outside, in LA's nicest gardens. Wonderful.

( Recently Sold Items, Mostly Gallery )Well, as some of you know, I have been questioning Etsy. The site is more appropriate for crafters, and art is hardly advertised by the admins. I really do not think it is fair that they charge us to list items, but basic necessities- like Google Base and heart/treasury notices- have to be done by user-made sites (like Treasury Clock, Craftcult, and Let's Ets). Yeah, I have made some sales, and gained new followers, but the truth is I am losing money and time. The promo spots on Etsy are simply not effective, and advertising outside is both time and money consuming. My work and schoolwork is suffering because of the amount of time it takes just to keep the stats up. So, I'm trying ArtFire. They're currently have a Holiday Free-For-All, meaning even basic accounts have unlimited free listings. Yep, no listing fee or sales charge. DELICIOUS. Right off the bat, I like that the recently listed items get the most dominant spot on the front page. Their SEO guide is short and sweet, all items are loaded to Google Base, we can choose holidays, items can be marked as mature, no tag limits, and we get to choose the dominant color. The other thing? Their staff is responsive. I got hit by a bug while uploaded. Other users on the forum reported the same thing, and it was fixed within five minutes. Very nice. Oh, and did I mention I can make coupon codes instead of manually giving money back? And you don't have to be a member to buy from my shop. I don't know if I'll move there permanently- only time will tell- but I am impressed. For now, you can find me at both sites:

Twitter. By God, it's addicting. Lately, I've been posting a lot of art links there. The work is really interesting, and I want to share the links with you all:
Winking Jeans (WHY) Paint Splatter Tattoos Stylecunt posts: Curious Carnival, Cirque A La Mode, and Killer Klimt. The last one will blow your mind Yellow Submarine Remake El Mac's Negative Film Graffiti & El Mac & David Choe The Lady Who Fell to Earth Carnival Masks of Venice Muscle Madness at Venice Really amazing boutique Lego Monsters (There is a lego chestburster. YES) Paco Peregrin Photos (click images) Ruud Baan Photography Christian Weber
I opened an ArtFire account. Pros: No listing fee, and buyers do not have to join the site. Cons: A basic account can only list twelve items, and the Pro account is $12/month. So I'm listing a few items there for now.
Remember the Influences posts? Do you guys want to see those again? I have the Dave McKean scans ready- I just haven't had the time. Let me know.

Well! For the last four days, I have been painting new earrings and pendants. I stick with the 00 brush, so there are a lot of little details in each piece. The downside is I need a completely steady hand, but that's not a big deal, right?
My wrist started to hurt on Saturday. It has continued- constantly- to today. Did I mention I start my fall term this Tuesday? Fuck. Right now I'm drawing just enough to keep on top of commissions and hoping it Goes Away.
( This is what I hurt myself for. Currently hard curing )
I got a lot of suggestions for removing white out, so I am confident I can undo the damage without repainting the poor guy's mouth (it was Mind of Our Mind, by the way). We know who did it, and they're going to be punished for it. The employees were horrified, so I believe vandalism is rare. I wish they hadn't marked that piece, but at the same time I'm glad they didn't fuck with the Sisters. That piece is my baby.
Oh yes! Everything in my online shop has free shipping until Tuesday, so please take a look.

Does anyone know how to remove white out from an acrylic painting? Someone put some on one of my pieces, and I need a way to remove the white out without removing the paint. Google is turning up nothing.
(cross posted to several comms, I'm kind of desperate)

1. Of course the fire season starts when we're hit by a heat wave (although, to be honest, it really should be a What Summer is Normally Like wave). And or course the car breaks down when the ash gets so bad I can't go outside for more than five minutes. OF COURSE.
2. I read Junji Ito's Uzumaki in a day. Wow. That book is fucked-up and I like it.
3. SPEAKING OF READING AND BOOKS, I have been devouring vampire short stories collections, and I just got to Love in Vein. I've never read such an...uneven collection. And I really feel bad for the people who bought this thinking it was chick lit/Harlequinn style erotica and not for "SOAK EVERYTHING IN BLOOD" horror erotica. Yeesh.

On Friday, I claimed my spot (in the FRONT, bitchesss!) at Handmade Gallery. We finished painting it, but only got half the items up- the jewelry cases were part of this group. We decide to come back tomorrow to finish.
Right before we left, I got a call from the gallery- they sold THREE PAIRS of my earrings. They had been open for an HOUR and I am just STUNNED.
( What sold )
I am going to be there for two months. Most of my work is for sale there. If this continues, I will be out of items in TWO WEEKS.
So, I bought some supplies today. I have a couple of ideas (spider, faeries, japanese + philipino spirits, a lot of vampires, a lot of monsters, and some men for balance), but is there anything you guys would like to see me paint? Jewelry or a regular painting- I want something outside my comfort zone, so suggest whatever. Doesn't have to be a human/creature- can be a form of architecture for all I care.
Oh, yes- I switches my base metal "silver" earwires for actual sterling silver. Looks a hell of a lot better and more people can wear them. The copper are still copper, though.
In a few days, I will be posting a series of portraits. Not the commission- singers painted with their voice colors (note to new friends: I have synesthesia. I see music- you can read about it here).

This is so much better! I was going to call this "Tattoo", but now I'm thinking "Debra". Do you like Debra? I like Debra.

Damnit, none of my new paintings are scanning properly! I think it's because of the new glazing medium. I'll photograph them when I have a chance.

Well, I didn't really do a painting during work (I don't know if I WANT to post what I painted) because I was so tired. So I did this instead: ( Sketchin's )
